I am a longtime resident of Neodesha, Kansas where I graduated high school, raised my family, and began my lifelong love affair with painting. I attended Pittsburg State University before transferring to Kansas State University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in education. I returned to Neodesha after college and began working at Cobalt Boats. While working at Cobalt, I realized my passion and skill in painting gel coat, the medium of choice for fiberglass. While many painters got their start with a brush, I learned to paint with air compressors, paint guns, and lots of acetone.
After many years of honing my skills in the boating business, I began my entrepreneurship journey and started my own fiberglass painting and repair business on Grand Lake in Northeast Oklahoma in 1995. Despite a humble and challenging start, I’ve slowly built up a successful business over the past 22 years and earned a reputation as one of the elite fiberglass painting specialist in the Midwest. I’ve performed every possible boat paint job you can image, from routine small patches, to complex multicolor patterns, to complete repaints of enormous yachts. Besides painting thousands of boats, I’ve also done plenty of cars, RVs, bathtubs, and even a custom washer and dryer.
About 10 years ago, I began dabbling in oil and acrylic art painting as a hobby. My mother spent a lot of time painting in her retirement and I’ve always had an artistic side myself. What started out as a pastime has turned into another passion as I continue to find myself as an artist. I really enjoy the use of color and mostly work with oil paintings. I’ve also recently began using reclaimed fiberglass material to create outdoor art that will withstand the outdoor elements.
I am really excited to be invited to contribute to the Art Forms Gallery and I hope you enjoy my work.
